SCRAPBOOK (EP) - KIG$

From the moment I pressed play on the first track of his debut project “Scrapbook”, Kig$ had my interest peaked as it set a tone for the tape and he really didn’t let his foot off of the gas for the entire duration. ⛽️ The way that he switches his flows from track to track is impressive, filling the project with no shortage of entertaining and surprising detours, and every flow he finds over the array of unconventional beats hitting harder than the last. 🥊 He especially seems to really refine his bag on “New Problem$” and “No Doubt” as he dances over the outrageously bouncy instrumentals, showing both his braggadocious personality and undeniable charisma. 🎙 “Watch” is also another memorable track in this respect, as his punctual verses land on top of an incessant arsenal of snares, hi-hats and claps that maintain the record’s quick, consistent pace. 🗣🔥 However, even with the project being primarily made up of such energetic tracks, he also packs an emotional punch by showing what he can do on silky smooth R&B cuts, like on the “Overthinking Interlude”, as well as his ability to delve into some self-observation on tracks like “Frozen” and “Changes”, experimenting towards a slower, more introspective style. 🔮 This was my first proper introduction to Kig$ and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with this EP. He showed several different sides and skillsets of a budding artist and he left zero doubt about his natural rapping ability by painting a vivid picture of what he is capable of. 💪🏾 I’m definitely eager to see how much further he can continue to develop artistically. 💯
