OVER YOUR HEAD (EP) - OUKOSEASON

Ouko has always been one of the most underrated but abundantly talented artists in town. 💯 His constantly heightening energetic deliveries add so much vitality to every track he’s a part of, and the speaker knocking production he normally uses with the ESN gang brings his music to new levels with every additional release he drops. 🎹 In this new EP, which is essentially a collection comprised of some of his best songs, he remains energetic but also takes moments to step back and truly show off his underrated but clearly intricate cadences that never seem forced or broken up by any means. 🗣🔥 The tape opens up with “*47” which contains a simplistic piano melody that is ultimately brought to new levels as soon as the bass comes in and almost blows out your eardrums. 🔊 This is a very characteristic sound for him, but it serves the purpose of drawing listeners in and catching their eye right off the bat by boasting some of his trademark enthusiasm and his individualistic tone. 💬 On the following track “Mind’s Eye”, comes in a beat that’s more eccentric and intense. And while the lyrical content he boasts is a bit more calmer, there’s an aggressiveness about it with a hint of flatbush zombies energy to boot, as he proves that he can still play around with his different flows and rhyme schemes. 🌪 Up next, is one of my personal favourite Ouko tracks ever, “Euphoria”. The beat is just so playful, the 808s hit so hard but they’re very punchy so they come in and out quickly and don’t linger for too long. 💥 He absolutely bounces with the chorus, shreds his verses apart and with Kahush also delivering one of his best verses, they turned this into a must-have song on any playlist. 💎 Another favourite is “god save the rocket”, which is as callous and ferocious as ever. Beyond just being straight up unruly, Ouko and his two features take a moment to show off some enthusiasm and personality as they get slightly more animated and experimental with their deliveries on this one. 👏🏾 With four other sick tracks on offer, at the end of the day, I believe this an EP that is absolutely worth checking out. ⛽️
