JUST ANOTHER KID IN NAIROBI - KABUGA

Kabuga is back with a new project “Just Another Kid In Nairobi” that comes comprised of a unique set of samples, improvisational flows, and a stream of consciousness style of lyricism that promises more than what the album’s title states. 🌟 Compared to his past releases, this time Kabuga manages to supply a ceaseless amount of memorable moments throughout, as each track seems to build upon a different aspect of his craft, leaving an overarching sampler of the artist’s versatile sound. 🎶🔥 He fills the project with no shortage of entertaining and surprising detours, while still managing to maintain a consistent flow over an array of unconventional beats, like on tracks like “Japanese”. 💮 This style hits especially hard on tracks like “Like Me” where he pairs heavy sample chops and punctual verses that land on top of an incessant arsenal of snares. 🔊🔥 He even went so far as to experiment with R&B on “Thinking Bout You”, which paired with Wendy, actually came out surprisingly well, contrary to my initial expectations. 📝 But I think beyond his growth as an artist, the major highlight is the beat selection on the project that does well to separate it from just being some loosely thrown together compilation of songs by carrying a consistently cold sonic aesthetic that leave a lasting impression through combinations of sounds that feel fresh and pack a resounding punch. 💯
