B.R.B (EP) - JC

The last time JC made an appearance on our page, she did so for a song that I still can’t get out of my head and I’m hype to have her back for a brand new EP that she just dropped. 💽 This is a project that carries with it some of the most enigmatic and all-encompassing production that plays ever-so-beautifully into her wheelhouse as a performer on the mic. 🎙 Constantly shifting through emphatic and entertaining deliveries alike, she does well to create an overall sonic feeling that is just as directly entrancing as it is nuanced. 💯 The structure of each song is different, as each track never seems to repeat the same portion from a vocal and instrumental perspective alike. ✅ Yet even with that being said, JC’s ability to create a multitude of adaptable flows throughout is the most impressive aspect of this EP. 🔥 My favourite track in particular goes to “Cheese” as she does so well to demonstrate her versatility. On a track that is more rapid in pacing than the rest, JC’s vocals are graced over a balletic percussion and a bouncy, thunderous bassline, weaving back and forth between soft singing and balanced rapping, with a flow and melody that seems as though she is seemingly floating on a nimbus cloud worry-free and completely in her bag. 💰 This mixed in with some clever lyricism and an infectious hook, i can only hope that a video for this similar to her last single “Morning” is in the works. 🎥✨ She also notably closes off the track with an assertive and politically charged track “Cheek” that carries with it a rather slick hip-hop touch, over an an absolutely insane instrumental that comes paired with screeching synths and piercing percussion that is distinctive in its own right. 🥁 She goes in with some of the most ruthless bars and aggression-forward delivery that is sure to make anyone who’s somehow not paying attention turn their head and tune in. 🧐 All in all, in my eyes, this is an incredibly strong debut for an artist, tapping into the frigid winter for an ice-cold cut that is but an appetizer for more to come. ❄️
